Thailand's Golf Courses are World Class and Unbeatable Value
Golf in Thailand has been one of Asia's best kept secrets many courses have been designed by professionals like Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo, Gary Player and others.
Thailand's Golf Courses are special
Thailand boasts well over 200 golf courses of which forty or so are in or conveniently near to Bangkok, each one providing an experience that can not be rivaled in the golfing world as they are oases of calm tranquility and a recuperative rest in the turmoil of life.
In Thailand golf takes on a special flavour it looses its competitive edge and is just like a friendly get-together, a gentle round amongst good friends who comfortably manage the tropical heat while enjoying a social occasion. It is more than just a three hour match but akin to a day excursion, that will include a delicious Thai meal in the club house, and perhaps end with a relaxing sauna or a massage to sooth away the stresses and strains of the game and life.
Refreshments
Unlike in many other countries where a refreshment kiosk may be placed between the ninth and tenth holes at many of Bangkok’s golf courses they are placed every three or so holes. This is where the thirst worked up from the rigours of the previous holes can be slaked. The rest of the course will be an easy stroll to the club house and the 19th hole.
Excellent Greens
Golf in Thailand is a game to be enjoyed not rushed take time to enjoy the green and take in the view because Thai greens are more like tropical gardens manicured into lush fairways, greens and tee boxes. Add to this the romantic and inspiring site of temple and stupa silhouettes that grace many a view on courses and the experience can not be bettered.
Even though nature lends a hand in providing abundant rain to keep the fairways in tip top condition, every course has automatic watering technology to ensure the greens, shrubbery and gardens remain in constant pristine conditions. There are no bald patches or burned out brown areas on a Bangkok course.
Green Fees
Green fees can be remarkably cheap ranging from as little at 500 baht to as much as 3000 baht or more depending on the course. Hire a cart for 500 to 600 baht for 18 holes. Golf clubs and shoes too can be hired at the same small price.
Caddy Hire Fees
Caddy hire fees for 18 holes is around 200 to 300 baht and the caddies at Bangkok's premiere clubs have study the lay of the land and know and undersand the courses' idiosyncracies and are themselves expers in the game. There is no better help and advice than when it comes from a caddy who has intimate knowledge of the greens.
Caddy Tips
Caddies do not expect tips but a gratuity eqyal to the hire fee will be most appreciated and returned in excellent service. Many Thai caddies are women who are attentive, jovial and brimming with genuine hospitality.
There is a reason they call Thailand the "Land of Smiles"
